

Mrs. Joan Marie Reynolds Miller, affectionately known as “Madame Babushka” passed away on July 31, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph William Reynolds and Helen Elizabeth Conway Reynolds. A graduate of St. Joesph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, she was of the Catholic faith.
Joan was an award winning employee of Eastman Kodak for over twenty years and currently employed by Pavement Technology, Inc. While being an accomplished business woman, she was a self starter and exceptionally organized. She was also widely known for her baking and famous “lemon bars.” While Joan loved to travel, she always took time for her many good friends and did volunteer work with the Make-A-Wish foundation and The Providence House.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Lee Miller, son, Bryan Miller and his wife Kallan, residing in Chicago, Illinois. Another son Jeffrey Miller and his wife Tena Helton, along with grandchildren Evan, Jason and Audrey Miller who reside in Springfield, Illinois. Joan’s sister, Eileen Durante and her husband Colin, reside in Westlake, Ohio. Joan was the Aunt of Susan Durante of Westlake, Ohio and Michael Durante of Dallas, Texas. She was the Great Aunt of Caroline and Matthew Durante, both of Dallas, Texas. Joan’s cousin, Sr. Nancy Conway, CSJ, resides in Westlake, Ohio.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Joan will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Chapel beginning at Noon on Saturday with a service at 1:00 PM followed by a graveside service in the Gardens of Sharon Memorial Park. Pastor Chris Payne of New Charlotte Church is presiding.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church in Westlake, Ohio at 11:00 AM on August 21, 2015.
In lieu of customary arrangements, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Charlotte; 2316 Randolph Road in Charlotte, North Carolina 28207, or the charity of their choice in honor of Joan.
