JoAnn was born on June 24, 1955, in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Barbara Helms Aasness. A proud graduate of Garinger High School, JoAnn was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an exceptional tango dancer, her grace and rhythm captivating all who watched her glide across the dance floor. Her creativity and skill extended beyond dancing, as she was also a gifted seamstress.
JoAnn dedicated many years to working alongside a designer, crafting exquisite window treatments, bedding, and pillows. Her talents did not go unnoticed, and she took great pride in her work. JoAnn's heart was truly at home, where she lovingly spent the last twenty years caring for her grandchildren. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she was often found at the center of a playful prank, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her. Her selfless nature, fearlessness, and fighting spirit inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
JoAnn was deeply proud of her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She cherished building memories with them—whether it was constructing projects, cheering them on at sporting events, or rocking them to sleep with love and tenderness. Known affectionately as the 'fixer,' JoAnn had an uncanny ability to repair anything that was brought to her with love and care.
She leaves behind a family who will forever hold her in their hearts: her daughter, Erin Miller; son, Cary Miller and partner Kendall Lawn; daughter, Lindsey Moran and husband Kevin; and daughter, Ivanna Neely and husband Ryan.
JoAnn was a devoted grandmother to Mariah Landrie and husband River, Nick Hendrick, Hunter Moran, Mack Dye, and Ezra Neely, and she was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Baby Landrie, in March 2027.
Her loving spirit also lives on through her siblings, Vickie Seuzaneau and husband Steve, and Cindy Johnson and husband Glenn.
The family will greet friends starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville Chapel, located at 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC. A Celebration of Life will begin in the McEwen Chapel at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in JoAnn's memory, as a testament to her generous and giving spirit.
JoAnn Guzman's warmth, love, and laughter will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
