Joe "Jb " Boyd Spurrier Jr.

J.B. was an Army Veteran serving from 1952 to 1954. He was retired from Williams & Shelton, a wholesale toy and hobby company and worked after retirement with NAPA. J.B. was a graduate of Harding High School Class of 1949 and an avid supporter of Harding High School Athletics where he attended numerous sporting events. He joined the Harding Booster Club in 1979 and served as Treasurer from 1979 through 2005 where he ran the concessions for athletics.

J.B. was predeceased by his wife of almost 62 years, Inez Hannah Spurrier. He is survived by daughters, Lorraine Benfield (Jeff) and Suzette Leonard (Al); grandchildren, Clint McGinnis, Tiffany Long (Andy), Hannah Powell (Nick) and Abigail Leonard; great-grandchildren, Parker Long, Avery Long, MaKayla McGinnis and Caroline Long.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West with Reverend Jae Lee officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to either Harding University High School Athletics, 2001 Alleghany Street, Charlotte, NC 28208 or Calvary United Methodist Church, 512 West Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203, where he was a member.
