John David Campbell

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years Patricia J. Campbell.

He is survived by 3 children, David Scott Campbell, Cindi C Anderson, and Elizabeth Nicole Thompson. 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Mr. Campbell was a professional Land Surveyor. The profession which he had practiced since 1961. Having been in private practice beginning in 1973.

He was a fellow member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors where he served in many capacities, particularly as Chairman of the membership development committee and he was instrumental in the growth of the society of professionals. He later served as President of the Association.

He had been active in Boy Scouts of America since 1962. Having served as Scoutmaster and Wood Badge Instructor and in many capacities over the years.

He was a member of the Gideon’s International. Having served continuously in the Charlotte West Camp in a ministry he felt was very important.

Mr. Campbell was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Charlotte where he and his deceased wife Pat Campbell were committed to Christ in 1955.

Over the years he served the church, including Sunday School teacher, Vice-president of the church council, and on many committees.

At the closing of Redeemer Lutheran church, he joined the congregation of the Good Shepard Lutheran church in Mt Holly NC.

He lived his life in service to Jesus Christ by being of service to others and by being an example an inspiration to all. In more recent years by sharing inspirational and educational biblical explanations through his Christian letter. He started with 4 people on his list which now has 40 recipients. He enjoyed this very much.

Mr. Campbell’s hobby was painting. He was an avid & excellent oil painter and was mostly self taught.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 28th at 11am at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 12 noon in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home followed by the interment in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Rev. Jason McIntosh is officiating.
