Born July 28, 1945, he was a son of the late Hazel Armstrong. Upon graduation from Ganesha High School in California, John entered the United States Navy where he served as a radioman on the USS Yorktown during the Vietnam War and earned a Double Bronze Star. After his six years of Naval Service, he moved to the East Coast and began a career in Information Technology. He later went on to achieve an Associate Degree from Camden County College in 2010 at the age of 64.
John Davis crossed over into a better life, surrounded by his wife Deborah, his daughters Brandi and Johnna, along with their husbands Hugo and Keith, and later joined by his son Josh. John was a strong-willed man, beating the odds without complaint over the past 8 weeks by bravely hanging on to life so that he could enjoy every last minute with his family. He was a dedicated family-man, a loving father to three children, a devoted husband of nearly 40 years, and a true example of a Christ-like servant.
The joy of John’s life was his family. He was devoted to his wife, Deborah, whom he adored. He was a wonderful father who taught his children the importance of unconditional love and servitude. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling, but his greatest passion was loving and serving others through cooking and baking. John loved God and enjoyed the fellowship he shared with the deaf community at his local church. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, gentleness, sweet spirit and beautiful smile.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 38 years, Deborah Ellis Davis; loving children, Brandi Castanheira (Hugo), Johnna Meads (Keith) and Joshua Davis; beloved grandsons, Mason, Christian, and Aaron Joseph; as well as his siblings, Dorothy Wilkison of Springfield IL, Max Wilkison (Eleanor) of Phoenix AZ, Mary Katherine Miller (Phil) of Black Canyon City AZ, George Davis of Phoenix AZ, Dora Hill (Thomas) of Ellenboro NC; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Armstrong and sister-in-law, Juanita Davis.
