Mr. Evans retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 40
years of service. He was a member of Central United
Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one son, John D. Evans of Matthews; one
daughter, Melody Evans Parrott, of Charlotte and five
grandchildren. Mr. Evans was predeceased by his wife Anne
Davis Evans and daughter Patricia Swenson.
To honor John’s wishes there will be no funeral. A private
burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. A memorial service
will be held October 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Central United
Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC
28212.
