John Thomas “Tommy” Hawley, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2013 at his home. He was born in Rockingham, NC and was the son of the late Theodore Alton Hawley and Beatrice Scholl Hawley.
He was a 20 year Navy Veteran and retired from Winn Dixie after 22 years of employment. Tommy was a remarkable man who loved his family and community. His strength and wisdom left a lasting impression on those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Hawley; son, Robert Hawley; step-sons Mitch, Danny, Jimmy and Terry Huggins, their spouses; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 17th in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
