John Franklin Hedrick

John Franklin Hedrick, age 89, of Charlotte, NC passed away at home on Thursday, August 4, 2016. John was born to the late Cicero and Grace Watts Hedrick on August 26, 1926. John served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II from 1944 to 1946 and was a letter carrier for 25 years with the US Postal Service. John served the Lord faithfully at Plaza Baptist Church for many years prior to becoming a dedicated member of Derita Baptist Church.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include wife of 66 years, Joanna Welch Hedrick and two sons; John Kimsey and wife Terri Love Hedrick of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Mark Leslie Hedrick of the home and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Cicero and Grace Watts Hedrick; his sisters, Faye Blanchette, Marcelle Brown and Mildred Turman; his brothers, William “Buck” Hedrick, Gordon “Dick” Hedrick, and Vernell “Doodle” Hedrick.

The family will receive friends at 1-2 pm, August 8, 2016 at Derita Baptist Church. The service to celebrate the life of John Franklin Hedrick will immediately follow at 2 PM. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park.
