A graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, John was a member Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte. He retired from Bowman Trucking after 22 years of employment.
He enjoyed drag racing, riding his motorcycle, gardening in his yard and sharing his vegetables with others.
He is survived by his sisters, Louise (John) Shook and Patsy Marion along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward McFarland and Grady McFarland Jr.
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McEwen Funerals and Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.
