2 years later and you are still missed very dearly John ❤️❤️❤️.

I'm so sad to see this. John was a regular at a restaurant I worked at for several years around 2013. Whenever I'd see his green SUV pull into the parking lot I knew I was in for good conversation, hilarious jokes,  and many laughs. He was such a fun guy to be around. He took care of us bartenders like we were his extended family. We miss you John!

I worked under him as a student food service worker at UNCC. He was genuinely one of the nicest people I ever met. He was so patient, kind, forgiving and compassionate. He was breathing heavily about 5 months before his death and I was a bit concerned and asked him if he was okay. He said he's getting better.  May he advance spiritually with divine guidance. 

John was an exceptional leader and servant. He led with integrity and humility, gave everyone a chance (or two or three), and supported his people in any way that he could. More often than not, he would show that he cared, rather than saying it; he walked the walk, rather than just talking about the walk. If you took the time to notice his actions, you would understand that his actions spoke the words he may not have spoken. He did so much of the behind-the-scenes work, and he didn’t need credit or special recognition. He was incredibly diligent in everything that he did. Working for him and knowing him over the last few years was truly a privilege and something I will always treasure because it is easy to remember his kindness, honesty, and smile. To his family and friends, I am sending so, so much love and care to you as you grieve his departure from this world. He was truly a blessing to many and the legacy of his life will continue. May he rest in eternal peace ❤️

To know him was to love him… ❤️❤️❤️ I met John about 7 years ago when I started at UNC. He was such a sweet man, he was definitely the type that you had to get to know to understand him. John taught me so much over the years and I’m going to miss him. He was the only one who could get me to pick up an extra shift at work on my days off. John you shocked the whole team with this one 🥺🥺, I haven’t cried this much in a long time but I keep telling myself that he is not suffering anymore and he is in a better place. This picture of us is not the best but John is smiling in this picture and that’s all that matters…… To his family and friends please remember all the great times you had with him.

Mr John was the true definition of an old school restauranteur. He took care of all the guests in his own unassuming way. Greeting people with a smile, always making sure everthing was ready for service  and checking on everyone to make sure they had what they needed. John took the role of mentor for the many student associates that came through our doors. He would get so excited as he saw them graduate and made sure to help with their future roles in the world.
I am so sad to say goodbye to an awesome man, coworker and friend. I am sad we will not get to share Goldbelly bagel orders, his gifts of honeybells and our shared love of sour beers! John may you be at peace and so glad you were in my world.

Deeply saddened by the news. He was a nice person, loved by students, he always guided and supported students in every way. May God give strength to his family to withstand this situation.
