John, 39, passed away February 3, 2020, in Asheville, NC. He was born November 27, 1980, the son of John and Karen Patrick.

John graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. He attended Appalachian State University, and later graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. His career was in Electrical Wholesale at Electrical Distributors Incorporated/Shealy. His last employment was with Consolidated Electrical Distributors in Asheville.

He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Charlotte. He loved sports and played Select Soccer. He was an avid University of South Carolina and Atlanta Braves Fan. He liked music and traveled across the country to attend Wide Spread Panic concerts, and had many ticket stubs to prove it. He enjoyed yoga, and hiking, where he was known to jump off 50-foot waterfalls. Listening and discussing Sports Talk Radio was a passion, debating the issues with family and friends never wavering from his opinion.

John loved spending time with family and was most definitely a lover of food, especially appetizers. He is survived by his parents, John and Karen Patrick, his sister Kellie, a niece Peyton, and nephew, Parker. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Dave and Frances Spear, Irene and J.D. Patrick. John has many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1900 Archdale Dr., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the St. Andrews United Methodist Church Building Fund.

I knew John in high school and college, and saw him on and off throughout the years. John was always so easy to be around, and was such a kind person. To his family and close friends; I am so terribly sorry for your loss, I know he will be sorely missed. I hope the essence of who he was is treasured by you and that you find joy in your memories of him.
