John A. Tota

JOHN ANGELO TOTA CHARLOTTE, NC John Angelo Tota, age 82, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Tota was born on November 12, 1928 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Antonio Tota and Maria DePalma Tota. He was a retired machine mechanic and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. Mr. Tota was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having seen 18 months of active combat during the Korean War conflict. His hobbies included watching classic movies and solving puzzles. He will be remembered most as a devoted family man. Mr. Tota is survived by a son, Anthony Tota, of Woodbridge, NJ; three daughters, Marietta Smith and husband Michael, of Charlotte, Angela Fisher and husband John, of Aberdeen, NJ, Michele Bartley and husband William, of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tota was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Rose DeGennaro Tota, in 2005. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27th at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, 1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, NC. Committal of cremains will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
