Johnie Glenn Shields

Johnie was born on November 8, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to parents John and Jerry Shields. He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1971. He married the love of his life, Cynthia, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and love. They were blessed with two children, Christy and John, who brought them great joy.

Johnie was a kind, hardworking, and loyal man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He took great pride in caring for his yard, and his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play baseball. His gentle spirit and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

A devoted man of faith, Johnie was an active member of both Nevin Church and Derita Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered most for the kindness he shared so freely and the love he gave so deeply to his family, friends, and community.

John is survived by his wife, Cynthia Shields; his children, Christy Caudle and John Shields; and his beloved grandchildren, KG Caudle, Jaxson Caudle, Samson Shields, Emmy Shields, Tyler Shields, and Ethan Shields.

Family will receive friends on November 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Derita Presbyterian Church, 2230 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262. Funeral Service will immediately follow. Johnie will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
