Jon Francis Pietras

He was born in Altoona, PA on April 24, 1945 to parents Frank John Pietras and Mary Patricia Hirt Pietras. He graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School and attended Georgia Institute of Technology before serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. His career was spent operating family retail stores in Charlotte, NC including Infinity's End Inc.

Jon was known as an expert chess player among his friends and also enjoyed playing golf. He had recently taken up painting and had become very good at it. He liked to spend time in the mountains and at the beach and enjoyed playing in drum circles around Charlotte and at music festivals.

Survivors include his wife Joan, sons Jon Jr. and his wife Wendy, Benjamin and his partner Stephanie, daughter Rebecca and her partner Matt, stepson Aaron and his wife Chris, grandchildren Dalton, Shelby, Bryson and Keith; sister Patricia Ann and her husband Victor, brother Frank and his wife Becky, and ten nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Chapel at 3016 Providence Rd. in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, December 1st at 2:00pm.

Tremendous appreciation is expressed by Jon's family to Charlotte Hospice nurses, doctors and staff for their care and comforting during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region at 1420 E. 7th St. in Charlotte, NC 28204.
