In August 1961 Pepito immigrated from Guayaquil, Ecuador to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he built a life centered on family, faith and hard work. He began a lifelong career as a GM-certified mechanic, working at Folger Buick for more than 50 years. His family affectionately called him the “Car Doctor.” He often diagnosed car problems over the phone, had the correct parts ready when his children arrived, and was always willing to help with repairs.
The family treasures memories of beach trips, visits to Miami, and weekends at their Lake Tillery home. Pepito was a gentle, devoted father and grandfather whose great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart and were among his greatest blessings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road. A committal service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, followed by a reception at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.
Pepito was a longtime supporter of local law enforcement organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police.
