

She was born on May 26, 1916, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Antoine Quilichini of France, and Juanita Roig.
She married Reinaldo Royo in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1938.
Mrs. Royo grew up in Puerto Rico. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. degree and from Columbia University in NY with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. Prior to coming to the United States in 1960, she lived in the Dominican Republic and in Cuba with her husband who was an executive with Standard Oil of New Jersey.
She taught in public schools and at the University of Puerto Rico.
Survivors include her five sons, Ray Royo, Jr. (Nora), Puerto Rico; Carlos Royo (Stephanie) Amarillo, TX; Mike Royo (Xiaohui), Delmar, NY; Jose Royo (Alice), Charlotte, NC; and Norman Royo (Barbara), Miami Shores, FL; nine grandchildren, Diana, Roxana, Sandra, Kristin, Sally, Anna, Dan, Kevin, and Chaz; and seven great grandchildren, Camila, Gabriela, Natalia, Trystan, Natalie, Ian and Bella.
A memorial service will be held at Southminster, 8919 Park Road, Charlotte, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Reverend Gary Hudson will officiate.
Mrs. Royo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reinaldo (Ray) Royo; sisters, Mary, Florence, and Monona; and brothers, Manuel and Carlos.
