

Joseph attended Southside High School, where he was a proud member of the marching band, graduating in 1987. He later earned an Associate’s Degree in business from Central Piedmont Community College.
On June 28, 2003, Joseph married the love of his life, Pecolia Miller. Together they raised two sons, Jacobi and JC. Joseph was also the devoted father of two daughters, Kavondra and Destiny, from previous relationships, and the caring stepfather of Tory, Kishoun, and Braye Brown.
For more than 30 years, Joseph worked as a driver for Estes Trucking. In addition to his long and dedicated career, he operated his own lawn care business, “Done Right Lawn Service,” proudly serving clients throughout the Charlotte metropolitan area.
Joseph was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. He enjoyed traveling, savoring good bourbon, cigars, and collecting watches. Known for his exceptional grilling and barbecue skills, he brought joy to many gatherings. His love of music was deep and enduring, with favorite artists including Sade, Prince, Anita Baker, and Loose Ends.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Pecolia Barringer; his children, Kavondra, Destiny, Jacobi, and JC; his stepchildren, Tory, Kishoun, and Braye Brown; and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Barringer; his brothers, Brian Jeffrey Barringer, Steven K. Barringer (Stephanie), and Gavin Michael Barringer (Amy); his bonus brother, Douglas Barringer (Elizabeth); his bonus sisters, Dorothy Williams (Clarence) and Adelaide Barringer; his uncles, Samuel Barringer, William Dixon (Baire), Aaron Dixon, Christopher Dixon (Candace), Samuel Fleming, and bonus uncle Major Neal (Gerri); his aunt, Bonnie Baldwin (Samuel); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Joseph will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, his humor, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
A visitation for Joseph will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm in the sanctuary of Walls Memorial AME Zion Church, 2722 Bancroft St, Charlotte, NC 28206. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com
