Dr. Joseph Louis Mancini M.D.
September 7, 1933 – November 5, 2018
Dr. Joseph Louis Mancini, MD passed away at the age of 85 on November 5th, 2018 at Brighton Gardens of Buckhead (Atlanta, GA). Dr. Mancini was born on September 7, 1933 in Malden, Massachusetts as the only child of Joseph Philip Mancini and Victoria Palumbo Mancini. He excelled in academics throughout his life and graduated from Phillips Academy at Andover in 1951. He then went on to complete his bachelor's degree at Yale University in 1955, followed by his medical degree at Boston University in 1959. During his years as an internal medicine physician, he also served as a reservist in the Army National Guard. Dr. Mancini was affectionately known to many of his family and friends as "Dr. Jay/Dr. Joe." He was an avid reader and sports fan who enjoyed spending time with his family/friends, going to church and meeting new friends. He and his family moved from South Carolina to Charlotte, NC in 1999. From 2006-2008 he was an active member of Calvary Church and enjoyed attending small group and serving his church community regularly. Charlotte was his home until 2008 when he moved to Nashville, TN to be near his daughter and son (in-love) following a stroke. In 2010, he relocated with his daughter and son (in-love) to Atlanta, GA. While there he became a member of Buckhead Church and was baptized there in 2013. In the last decade of his life, Dr. Mancini displayed great faith and strength in navigating the change in his health. Despite the effects of his stroke, he always kept a positive, upbeat attitude and often made those around him smile and laugh with his charm and humor. He was well loved by all who encountered him. Our family would like to acknowledge a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff and friends at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living of Buckhead (Atlanta, GA). This community played an integral role in providing support and care for our dad. In addition, many thanks are extended to the wonderful friends from Atria Buckhead and Buckhead Church who also blessed and enriched his life over the last few years. Many Blessings go out to all of the extended family and friends who knew and loved him. We are forever grateful.
