Joe was born in Wilson, NC in 1931 and moved to Charlotte in 1936. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return he owned the Esso station at the corner of Kenilworth and East Blvd. Joe then went to work for Gulf Oil and retired from BP Oil after 29 years.
Joe grew up at First Christian Church in Dilworth and was later a charter member of South Park Christian Church.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Nunn and parents, JP and Charlie Grey Nunn. He is survived by his son, Joe Nunn and girlfriend Ann Hamblen and daughter, Susan Scholle, husband Jim and grandson Jim Scholle Jr.
