Deke - I only heard of Karen's passing yesterday when I called the office to file my returns.  I have no idea how I was not aware.  I cannot even relay my surprise or my remorse.  Karen was a wonderful person and I was so fortunate to know her.  My prayers are with you and the family. Even after hearing that news yesterday, I am still numb.  I will continue to think of you, Karen, and your family.

Tom & I send our deepest sympathies to Deke, Brad, Becky & Erica as well as Karen's extended family.  She was a joy to be around and I remember many good times at Sardis Forest Swim Club. I am sorry this is late but just saw the info on a new FB friend's page today(we now live in Mobile AL).

Although we only knew Karen for a short time, we still have wonderful memories of getting together next door and at the lake in your new home. Deke and family, I worked with Karen for 10 great years and am saddened by the news of your loss.  Since we were both from Chicago  I had an immediate connection with her (we both loved those Italian beef sandwiches).  She was a great boss, always patient with our many questions.  She was very proud of her children and shared many stories and pictures of her family.  She will be truly missed.  We will keep you all in our prayers.

It's always sad to lose a family member who is in the prime of life.  I recently lost my 50-year-old son to cancer.  My sympathy goes to Karen's entire family and friends.  I knew her for a few months years ago when I enrolled in the tax course when her office was in the old building on the corner of Catawba and Meridian.  She was a kind and patient teacher.

I am a small business owner and Karen provided her tax knowledge and services to me for a number of years; I looked forward to seeing her each year as I always first asked her how she was, not to discuss my taxes.  Always, always she lit up, eyes so full of love & excitement to talk about the kids...one was here (usually out of the country) another was there but was going to here, on and on, so proud, so excited, she even talked about how well hubby was doing.  We had a fabulous time each year. I will miss her.  She loved her children and husband so very, very much.  I'll look for you on the other side Karen.  so will everyone else.
