Today, October 26, 2014, the Lord took home a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born April 15, 1930 in McDowell County, W.V. to the late Frank and Eva Smith. She lived in Charlotte, N.C. for 67 year. Kathleen was a member of Christ the King Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Sawyers; sister, Bonnie Watson; and daughter, Shirley Bishop. Survivors include her sons, Charles and Edward; daughter, Kathy and husband Fred Line; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be held at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
