

Katie Teresa Sloan age 26, died in her sleep on July 24, 2010. Katie was born on December 21, 1983 in Charlotte, N.C. She was born with what would become a lifelong medical condition, not completely identified until December, 2004 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She was treated in several national medical centers throughout her life. Although she had numerous daily challenges, she was brave and determined. She is now healed and at peace with the Lord. Katie graduated in 2002 from Dore Academy. She was a faithful member of Circle of Friends at Forest Hill Church. She enjoyed needle work which included felted purses, scarves, and afghans. She also loved googling recipes and was known as the casserole queen. She loved the beach, cruises, and shopping, especially outings with her special friend, Johnette Orr. Also Katie enjoyed visits to her Canadian family; Katie was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to her doctors, Dr T. J. Eichbrenner, Dr Donald Riopel, Dr Eric Mair, Dr Kenneth Coggins, Dr Theodore Frank, and many other care givers, and the medical staff at CMC. We would also like to thank everyone who has cared and prayed for Katie her entire life.

A funeral mass will be held 2:00p.m., Thursday, July 29 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Reverend Timothy S. Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, with Reverend Tom Tate, Plaza Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., Wednesday, July 28 at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road.
