

Keith Tinkham, age 76, passed on Monday February 8th 2021 in Charleston, SC. Keith is survived by his wife Shirley Wise Tinkham; children Keith Ian Tinkham (Lynn), Nicholas Hayden Tinkham (Jennifer), Jacquelyn Edith Young (Aaron) and Jonathan Edward Tinkham (Amanda); fourteen grandchildren; brother Joseph Elliott Tinkham (Connie) and niece Natalie.
Keith was born April 21, 1944 in Suffolk, VA to Homer Keith and Edith Owen Tinkham. He graduated University of Richmond in 1966 with a degree in chemistry and a minor in biology. He went on to complete a year of medical school at Medical College of Virginia. He then decided to enter the US Navy where he served full time as a hospital corpsman for four years.
He moved to Charlotte in 1969 where he took a position with Merck. He stayed with Merck for 30 years, working in pharmaceutical sales. During this time, Keith served an additional 24 years of active duty with the US Navy reserves retiring with the rank of Senior Chief petty officer.
During his time in Charlotte, Keith met Shirley and the two were married on November 24th, 1973. Together they had four children.
Keith loved his family and friends dearly and was very involved in the community. He was a very active member of the LDS church as well as the American Legion and local VFW.
His family and friends will forever remember him as a very loving man who constantly sought out opportunities to donate to church, charities, and community.
A funeral is scheduled for Monday February 15th at 10:30am. Bishop Jason Michelle of the LDS church will officiate. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Keith’s life.
