My soulmate Kem "Fuzz" McGinnis went to be with his son in heaven Tuesday, January 30th at the age of 58 years young. Kem was a Charlotte native and graduated from Harding High School in 1978. After High School Kem spent the next 33 years at Duke Power where he ultimately had to retire on disability.
Although he has had many surgeries they have never slowed him down. Kem had just been released from the orthopedic doctor for a shoulder replacement surgery in October 2017 and was looking forward to doing his favorite thing, riding his Harley Davidson.
Kem had been in 43 states either on 2, 4 or 18 wheels and never met a stranger and was known by many. He was always smiling and had great stories to tell. Son Jeremy and daughter Meghan's friends have said what good advice he gave throughout the years.
Kem also loved his tattoos and even added a new addition to his arm the week before his untimely death. Kem is survived by his wife of 37 years, Melodie Mingus McGinnis; daughter, Meghan McGinnis (David Reece); grandson, Wyatt McGinnis; brothers, Joe and Jim McGinnis and sister, Anda Wells all of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, family and friends that have entered his life over the years. May he rest in peace. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Road, Charlotte, North Carolina at 1:00pm with a visitation to follow. Memorials can be sent to Melodie McGinnis on behalf of the Wyatt McGinnis College Fund.
