Kou Vang

He was born on July 1, 1983 in Thailand to Khua Jer Vang and Youa Yang. His mother preceded him in death. He was a beloved stepson to Bao Vue and a beloved son-in-law to Lee and Chong Chang.

Kou was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to go fishing, fix cars, cook, and spend time with his loved ones any chance that he got. He was a man of faith and a member of the Hmong Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a friend and a brother to everyone in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Amie Chang, whom he loved. They were together for 26 years and were married on April 10, 2005. He was a devoted father who would do anything for their children: Kenny, Jazmyn, and Amaya Vang.

He will be forever missed by his siblings Mang Vang (Rickie Yang), Kao Vang (Cheing Her), Bao Vang (Dan Thao), Xe Vang (Vong Yang), Soua Vang (Mai Yang), Khua Hmong Vang (Xeng Lee), and Chou Vang, and by his siblings-in-law Deanna Chang Hall (William Hall), Andrew Chang, and Eric Chang.

He will also be missed as an uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Jason and Tydon Vang; Robert, Jimmy, Kevin (Zong Siab Yang), and Nancy Her; Cory, Joey, Lilly, and Daniel Thao; Ajay, Ivy, and Clover Yang; Allison, Emily, Logan, Stella, and Leo Vang; Hailey and Kelsie Yang; Tristan, Leia, and Everly Lee; Hope Hall; and his grandnephew, Marcus Her.

Service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Services will continue on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, with a committal service to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
