

Mrs. Campani, a resident of Elmcroft of Little Avenue and a former resident of The Carriage Club, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Born June 29, 1918 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Frances and Mario Muratori.
All of her life, Laura possessed a warm sense of humor and a quick wit that endeared her to all. Family and friends appreciated her ability to listen to them and care about their lives and concerns. She was a wonderful hostess, attuned to the comfort of her guests, and had a lifelong love of animals.
Laura volunteered willingly and served as president of numerous associations. She was never short of ideas for the many events she was asked to plan. Laura was a member of Cedarwood Country Club.
Laura is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine and son-in-law, Terence Messmer, as well as her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Francesca and Graham Claybrook, and grandsons, Peter and James Messmer; also sisters, Anne Campani and Jo Bencivenga; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Audrey Campani; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her adored husband, Louis, as well as sister, Dora Phillips and brother, Mario Muratori.
Both a memorial prayer service (Monday, February 27, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.) and a memorial Mass (Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m.) will be held in the chapel of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
