Laura Gibson Stallard was born July 9, 1946 in Charlotte NC. In the 1950’s, her family moved to California. Laura moved back to NC when she was a teenager, living with her Aunt Lavada. She had a brief marriage to Richard Stallard. She worked until retirement at Farm Bureau Insurance on the office staff and as a receptionist.
Laura’s true passion was her work and involvement with the North Carolina Society of the Order of Confederate Rose. She wore many hats over her long service within the organization. She served as State President for 18 years and in her later years served as the Treasurer/Secretary. Laura was also point of contact for the Confederation of State Societies for over 20 years. Her greatest love was to honor our ancestors that fought to preserve our way of life. The NCOCR has truly lost a person that loved this organization with her whole heart. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by Margie Ree Godfrey Brown (mother), Forest Lee Gibson (father), Micheal Anthony Brown (brother), and Lavada Godfrey Swain (aunt)
She is survived by R. Neal (brother-in-law) and Suzy K. Hager (sister); Rusty and Blair (niece) Sims, and their 3 children; Billy Joe (nephew) and Noree Cox, and their 6 children and 1 grandchild.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Sam Davis Christian Youth Camp.
