Lavonne Wingate Deese Crump, 89, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Lavonne was born on November 14, 1929 in Gaston Co. to Dave and Blanche Wingate and grew up in Belmont, NC with one brother and two sisters. She married Horace B. Deese on January 6, 1945 until his death in 1975 and later married Samuel Crump in 1981 until his death in 1986. Lavonne is survived by her 8 children, David Deese (Fran), Gene Deese, Alfred Deese (Jean), Andrea Howard, Rachel Elliot (Dave), Lou Grigg (Joey), Reid Deese and Tara Russell (Grant), 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and sister, Rueline Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Wingate and sister, Ruth Lewis. Lavonne retired from Pelton and Crane, Charlotte, NC. She had a beautiful voice and loved sharing that in church choirs at Homestead Methodist Church and later Thomasboro Baptist Church. She loved hosting holidays and her house was overflowing with family and friends. Even though she was 89, she had the energy to babysit and work in her yard. She loved to accompany her children on family vacations. She was always available to her children and grandchildren for babysitting or anything that was asked of her. She is truly going to be missed by all. Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, at 1:00 pm at Thrift Baptist Church in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Dr. after the service. Flower arrangements can be sent to Thrift Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
