Mr. Small, 90, of Gastonia passed away on December 25, 2020. He was born in Mecklenburg County on August 23, 1930 a son of the late Leighton Augustus Small, Sr. and Ruby Rape Small. Mr. Small served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Gail Small Sechler. He is survived by his wife Jo Griffin Small; daughter Carla Small Gearheart; brother James Small; grandchildren Melissa Gearheart Jones, Megan Gearheart, John Avery Gearheart and his wife Emily; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth Sarmiento and Aiden Nava.
