

He is survived by his daughters Phyllis McCants (Marvin) of St. Matthews, SC, Deborah Sutton (Rick) of Indian Land, SC, and Sandra Goldenberg (Barry) of Waxhaw, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Melissa Scruggs (Trent) and Monica Charlton (Kevin), six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Aubrey, Paige, Owen and Olivia.
Born August 3, 1923 in Angier, NC to Albert Lennie Searcy and Mary Tucker Searcy, he was the oldest of four boys and had four sisters. All of his siblings preceded him in death. His closest brother in age, Jacob (Delorise), died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the age of 93.
Lennie attended Angier High School and enlisted in the U. S. Navy on 05/29/1941 at the age of 17 and served four years and four months with rank at discharge as 3rd Class Radio-Man and Tail gunner on Privateer 4 Engine Bomber.
On October 4, 1945, he married Lula Holland and was a devoted husband until she passed away in 2013.
Lennie worked for Kimbrell's Furniture Company from November, 1945 to July 1985. When he retired he was the Corporate Secretary and Assistant Treasurer.
He was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and served as a Deacon, was a member of the Adult Choir, Men's Bible Class and the Senior Citizens Group.
In 1986, he and his wife retired to N. Myrtle Beach, SC where they lived for 17 years before moving to Indian Land, SC. They re-joined Woodlawn Baptist Church and continued to serve until their deaths.
Lennie loved everyone he met and never met a stranger. He was always happy and loving as a devoted husband, a loving and gentle father and always enjoyed entertaining his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Lennie was a father figure in the lives of many, and was a great Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 from 6 - 8 pm.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, 02/21/2019 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Rd., Charlotte, NC 28217 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd., Mint Hill, NC, 28227.
