Mr. Clippinger, age 90, of Charlotte passed away April 1, 2013 at Transitional Health Care in Kannapolis.
He was born April 7, 1922 in Charlotte, North Carolina the son of the late Richard Leroy Clippinger and Oreine Covington Reynolds.
Leroy proudly served his country in the Navy Air Corps. during WWII and later became a mail carrier for the US Postal System for 36 years. He attended NC State and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte. Mr. Clippinger was active and enjoyed the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Games where he participated in such events as Field and Track, cycling and running.
Surviving are his four sons, Christopher K. Clippinger (Beth), Steven Gregory Clippinger (Dawn), Mark Philips Clippinger (Elise), and Michael Leroy Clippinger; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members.
A private service will be held in Evergreen City Cemetery.
