

Lewis Frank Platt passed peacefully at the age of 92 on November 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn B. Platt. He is survived by family, Mark Platt (Lori), Melinda Hopkins (Robert), grandchildren, Shelton Harrell (Joy), Shawn Harrell (Stephanie), Andrew Platt and Matthew Platt and two great grand-children.
Lew was born on February 17, 1926 to Eunice and Frank Platt in Springfield, Mass. He had quite the education with degrees from University of Michigan, Cornell, and University of Cincinnati, including Industrial Engineering. Lew served in the Marine Corps reaching the rank of Captain from 1946-1951 in the second tank battalion, second marine division, FMF.
He married Marilyn Bohn on May 31st 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was married for 52 years.
His career started with Scripto in Atlanta Georgia as an industrial designer, responsible for design and patents of Scripto pens. After Scripto, Lew worked 30 years with Carpenter Technology as a Sales Manager.
Lew's hobbies included golf, flying, photography, fishing, and travel.. He was also an excellent artist. Lew was an active member of the James K. Polk Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed his role as a clown replicating his favorite clown, Emmet Kelly.
Lew lived in Charlotte and was cared for by The Little Flower’s loving staff for the last several years and Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte during his final days.
A private graveside service is scheduled for the family. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
