Born September 26, 1928, Lloyd was a son of the late Christopher Columbus Brinkley and Bertha Linda Futrell Brinkley.
He served with the US Army in Guam.
Mr. Brinkley was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, westerns and old war movies, fishing and watching TV. Lloyd retired after 38 years as a driver for the George A. Hormel & Company. He then went to work as a van driver for Action Personnel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fronnie Brinkley; a son, Lloyd C. “Chip” Brinkley Jr.; three brothers, Leslie Brinkley, Luther Brinkley and Linwood Brinkley; and a nephew, Buddy Brinkley.
Surviving are his two daughters, Sally B. Wilhelm and husband, Jerry and Denise “Deanee” B. Oliver and husband, Doug; a special friend who was like a son, Tommy Dabney; grandchildren, Noal Oliver, Heather Wilhelm Franklin, Brinkley Brown, Cole Wilhelm and Garrett Wilhelm; a great granddaughter, Brittany Oliver; two sisters-in-law, Helen Brinkley and Winnie Brinkley and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with funeral services planned for 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28262. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
