Born on September 7, 1941 in Swannanoa, NC, one of seven children to her parents, Ruth and Colin Bridges. Patsy loved growing up in the mountains and talked so fondly of her childhood, with her brothers and sisters (Lillian, Bill, Kenneth, Louise, Brenda and Jr.).
She met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Robert Dillingham and they were married on October 31, 1959 after her high school graduation. Robert and Patsy were married for 32 years and raised two children who loved her dearly, Teresa Diane and Robert Douglas. Her husband, Robert passed unexpectedly on May 8, 1991 and Patsy and her children were heartbroken. Patsy continued working and retired from Genuine Parts Company. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where she loved being a part of the “Jolly Sixties” bible study group, even though at the time, she wasn’t quite 60, they affectionately called her their mascot and she thoroughly enjoyed going on trips and having social outings with her church group of friends. Patsy met and married David Desmond in 1998 and they led a quiet life together until his death in 2011.
Patsy leaves behind her daughter Diane (Rick) Coulson and son Doug Dillingham, two grandchildren, Christopher Steven Coulson and Kylie Marie Coulson, one sister, Louise Walker, and a host of nieces and nephews and their children. The family would like to send much love and gratitude to her caregivers at Preston House Memory Care in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on August 22, 2024 at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte.
