

Lois Schneider, 82, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026 at Brighton Gardens of Charlotte. Lois was born in Sommerville, NJ to Lee and Fred Lewin. She spent her childhood in Bound Brook, NJ, Miami, FL, and Hendersonville, NC.
After graduating from Hendersonville High School, Lois attended Woman's College of the University of North Carolina/UNCG and then Boston University where she earned a BA in History and then worked as a credit analyst. She later moved to Atlanta, GA, earned an MAT from Emory University, and taught high school history. After marrying George, raising two children, and studying accounting at UNCC, Lois worked for many years at L&S Children’s Fashion. She enjoyed closing out her career at the Mint Museum of Charlotte.
Lois was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who centered her life around her family and friends.
As an active member of Temple Israel throughout her many years in Charlotte, she was highly regarded by her fellow congregants.
Lois is survived by George, her husband of 56 years; son, Stephen Schneider (Cecelia) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Julie Levy (Michael) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Susan Levy (Rick) of Tucson, AZ; brother, Moshe Lewin (Miriam) of Jerusalem, Israel; grandchildren, Matthew Schneider of Warner Robbins, GA; Eleanor “Ellie” Schneider of New York, NY, and Sophie Levy of Atlanta, GA; 9 nieces and nephews; and 27 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Hebrew Cemetery of Greater Charlotte at 1801 Statesville Ave. at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8. The service will be livestreamed. You can view it by using the hyperlink.
