

Loretta was born in Lincolnton, NC, on May 10 1930 to the late Bonnie Boyd and Effie Kendrick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles “Mack” Burgess and seven brothers and sisters.
After graduation from Lincolnton High School, Loretta began her work as a telephone operator. She moved to Charlotte to continue her career, working for Bell South for 32 years. After retirement, she volunteered with Loaves and fishes Food Pantry of Charlotte. She was a devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Charlotte for 58 years where she faithfully served her Savior and sang in the choir for many of those years.
Loretta lived life to the fullest and loved to be on the go. She enjoyed traveling going to the beach, fishing and dancing with her husband, going to water aerobics and playing Scrabble with her sister.
Loretta is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Brown and her husband Robert, of Denver, three grandchildren, Colby, Caleb and Christian Brown, one brother, Robert Kendrick and his wife Doti of Montgomery, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Loretta Burgess will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 8501 Belhaven Blvd. Charlotte, NC. Loretta’s family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund
