Lorin James Lanier

Rin was born in Statesboro, GA. He moved to Charlotte in 2019 and Charlotte quickly became his home. Rin passed away while visiting his father in Statesboro, GA on March 8, 2024.

He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, friend, student and dedicated basketball player. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lorin Tye Lanier. He is survived by his mother, Sarah Lanier (Charlotte, NC), father and stepmother, Lamar and Molly Lanier (Statesboro, GA), brother, Sam Lanier (Statesboro, GA), stepsisters Emmalyne Sisson Jacobs and Sydney Sisson, grandmother, Tracey Christie (Charlotte, NC), grandfather David Barnett (Alpharetta, GA), grandparents Carolyn and Hal Gleaton (Plains, GA), great grandparents Linda and Gerald Christie (Destin, FL), great grandmother Marilyn Clayton (Atlanta, GA), aunt and uncle Christopher and Lauren Barnett, cousins Charlie and Maggie Barnett (Athens, GA) and countless great aunts, uncles and extended family.

In Charlotte, his visitation will be Friday March 14 from 5-7 at McEwen Funeral Home at Sharon Memorial Park, with a service immediately following at 7. There will be a memorial service in Statesboro, GA on March 18 at 5 PM, at Joiner Anderson Funeral Home.
