

Born December 3, 1927 in Chattanooga, TN, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Christopher Dupree and Leila Beatrice Oxford Rogers.
She grew up in Arlington, VA and went to Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University). Following graduation she worked in the medical field as a secretary until her retirement. She moved to Charlotte in 1956 and then to Lake Wylie in 1991. Lorraine was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and was active in all phases of church work including the Chancel Choir and serving as an elder.
She is survived by her son, Steve Cockerill and his wife, Bernice; and her daughter, Janet Bullock and her husband, Dean; grandchildren, Chad Cockerill (Tiffany), Bryan Cockerill (Steffonie), Mimi McClurkin; great grandchildren, Zoey McClurkin, Zane McClurkin and Ava Cockerill; her brother, Julian Rogers; and her step-daughter, Brenda Shifflette.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Smith; and a sister, Nell Collins.
Lorraine’s family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30 at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road in Charlotte.
