Louis Custrini, 98, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Atrium Health in Pineville. He and his identical twin brother, Charles Custrini, were sons to Angelo and Molly Custrini. Louis was born in Philadelphia, but grew up mainly in the New Jersey suburbs of New York City. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served with his brother at the end of World War II. Louis was the product of a gentler, more civilized time. He treated others, no matter their background or place of origin, with respect.
Louis spent the bulk of his career working in public relations, both in New York and Los Angeles. However, the happiest time of his life was spent living with his family in Anchorage, Alaska. He served there as a representative of the RCA Corporation, which owned and operated the telephone system in the state in the 1970s. Louis loved to share stories of his adventures in the Alaskan bush, and in particular, of surviving a small plane crash—or two.
Outside of work, Louis enjoyed writing and reading poetry, and was an avid physical fitness proponent. He also enjoyed traveling abroad and simply being with his late wife, Kip, with whom he engaged in some highly competitive Scrabble games. He has long looked forward to being reunited with her.
Louis is survived by his son, Robert Custrini, his daughter-in-law Kathy, and his granddaughter, Alice.
A Celebration-of-Life gathering will take place on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 from 2 to 5 pm, at the Windsor Oaks Clubhouse, 8840 Windsor Ridge Drive, in Charlotte. All are welcome.
