

Charlotte - Louise was born July 28, 1928 in Durham, NC. She was the daughter of the late John Ivey and Mamie Beeker Grinstead. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, with whom she enjoyed 63 wonderful years, and two sisters, Nancy Coolick and Peggy Chance.
Louise is survived by three children, Janet (Jim) Blane, John Costin, and Julie Costin (Steve Keim); nine grandchildren, Alexis Blane (Peter Rudebeck), Brent Blane, Shawn (Matt) Williams, Casey, Ryan, Jack, and Kelly Costin, Isabelle and Olivia Keim; five great-grandchildren, Conner, Ben, Davis, and Jack Williams, and Harper Costin; a sister, Carol Howell; and two brothers, Buster Grinstead and Doug Grinstead.
Louise loved life, and gave freely to others in need. She enjoyed traveling, and was an avid reader and gardener, but her greatest joy was her family, with whom she delighted in spending time. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Kelly Fisher, Cassie Lansing, Joetta Goode, and Maria Quintana for their wonderful love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148, or the charity of one's choice.
A service to celebrate the life of Louise Costin will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the Harry and Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery will be private.
