OBITUARY

Louise Gift Dover

September 23, 1928February 19, 2018

Louise Gift Dover, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on February 19, 2018. This fulfilled her desire to stay at her home. She has joined many of her loved ones in eternity including her husband, C. Carlo Dover and older sister Mabel Gift Ivey, known as “Sister”.

Louise was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Paul W. Gift and Mabel Shaw Gift on September 23, 1928. The Gift family came to Charlotte when Louise was young. She graduated from Sharon High School and attended Carolina Business College. Louise worked many years as a legal secretary and even assisted in securing the patent for argyle socks. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening and the beach.

Faithfulness best describes Louise’s life. She was a faithful wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Louise tackled things with precision and strove for excellence. The one quality most mentioned of her even by those she met briefly was her sweetness.

“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:29 (ESV)

Louise is survived by her sister, Joyce Gift Hartis; nieces and nephews: Kathie Ivey Carrigan, Sharon Leigh Ivey Miles, Edward Ivey, Skeet Hartis, Paul Hartis, Debbe Z. King, Brooks Dover and Gigi Dover-Lovell.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22 in Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204, www.hpccr.org or to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte, NC 28215, www.hickorygroveumc.com.
