Nomy was born July 8th, 1939, in Cali, Colombia, South America. He was born to the late Lucio Nomy Delgado and the late Mariela Patiño.
In 1963 Nomy and his family moved to the United States where they found their new life in Bluffton, Indiana. He soon would be drafted into the United States Army where he served for two years, living in Germany. Shortly after moving back to Indiana, Nomy obtained his citizenship in the United States in 1973. In 1989, he was transferred to Charlotte, NC for work reasons with his company, Statomat-Globe, where he worked as a mechanical engineer. This is where he would find his forever earthly home.
Nomy loved to travel with family and friends and with his wife. He traveled all over the United States from the Grand Canyon to the mountains, the coast, and many destinations in South America. People who knew Nomy will always remember that infectious smile, those huge dimples, his generous heart, and how welcoming he was to everyone.
He was a giver and a mentor to so many. He helped people from South American countries to get settled in the United States by offering them a place to stay while they looked for work and helped them on their journeys to becoming U.S. citizens. Nomy was a doting husband, a fun and loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who will be missed by all.
Nomy is survived by: his wife, Heliodora Delgado of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Gisella Ponton of Wallis, Texas, Christina Kiger of Cookeville, TN and Patricia Delgado of Fort Mill, SC; son, Nomy Delgado of Fort Mill, SC; stepdaughter, Vannessa Anzola of Waxhaw NC; brothers, Alvaro Delgado of Cali, Colombia and Guillermo Delgado of Cali Colombia; sister, Maria Eugenia Delgado of Cali, Colombia; and eleven grandchildren: Dominic Fernandez, Gabriela Ponton, Cameron Delgado, Malik Darwish, Andru Spencer, Natalia Ponton, Skylar Spencer, Lukas Anzola, Leyla Delgado, Reyna Delgado and Kamila Anzola.
