

Mae McKenzie Hutchison Mae McKenzie Hutchison wife of the late Raeford W. Hutchison passed away December 21, 2016, She was born December 25, 1920 to Colin W. McKenzie and Ellen Cagle McKenzie in Carthage, NC. Mae grew up in Pinehurst, NC moving to Charlotte, NC to go to business school where she met Raeford, the love of her life. She spent the rest of her adult life in Charlotte spending the last 23 years at Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC. Mae loved gardening, camping and traveling, card games, exercising, and spending time at Lake Norman with family and friends. She was an active church member at Thomasboro Presbyterian Church and then Sardis Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the RSESAA, when Raeford was working, Wally Byam Caravan Club International, Inc. and the Good Sam Camping Group with her airstream camper. She saw most of the US with the trailer from the east coast to the west coast, from the Canada border to the tip of Florida meeting many good friends along the way. Mae is survived by daughter Judy McCurdy (Bill) of Wendell, NC, and Tom Hutchison (Sherry) of Greer, SC, brother Colin W McKenzie, Jr of Pinehurst, daughter-in-law Angie Hutchison of Fletcher, NC, 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She is pre-deceased by husband Raeford Hutchison, son Bill Hutchison, sister Margaret McKenzie Scholl, and Sister-in-law Anne Seawell McKenzie and her parents. The family wants to say a big thank you to Plantation Estates staff especially the Oak Bridge Terrace, and Willowbrook Court for the kind, attentive, and considerate care they have given Mae over the last 3 years. Family and friends will gather at Sardis Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Charlotte, NC at 11:00 on Friday, December 23 for a graveside service. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Plantation Estates, Matthews, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
