Marcelle Sue Buxbaum Oxman

Marcelle navigated a lengthy illness with the unwavering support of her family and dedicated physicians, including Dr. David Miller, whom she credited not only for his exceptional medical expertise but also for his remarkable compassion.

Born in Atlanta, Marcelle was the daughter of the late Reneé and Jules Buxbaum, both of Charlotte.

She graduated from East Mecklenburg High school in 1967 and attended the University of Georgia.

She met her husband Allan Oxman while working in Atlanta. This December they would have celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Marcelle enjoyed very long and close friendships in Atlanta and in Charlotte. She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, loving nothing more than orchestrating family gatherings. She loved to travel and see the world. She also maintained a beautiful bond with her four siblings, with whom she shared Monday evening Zoom calls.

Marcelle will be remembered for her big heart and generosity as well as her dedication to friends of all walks of life, expertise in the laundry room and her impeccably made beds with sharp hospital corners, a trait for which she credits her mother.

Her death leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Besides her husband and siblings, Marcelle is survived by her daughters Shelly Satisky (Brian) of Atlanta, GA and Stephanie Simon (Jon) of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren Alyson Satisky, Jay Satisky, Molly Simon, Liza Simon, James Simon; 14 nieces and nephews; and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will observe shiva at Temple Israel, 4901 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7pm, and in Atlanta, GA Sunday.

Marcelle’s final resting place will be at Hebrew Cemetery in Charlotte.
