Margaret G. Newton

Margaret Green Newton, 85 of Charlotte died December 21, 2011 at Old Knox Commons in Huntersville, N. C. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Monday, December 26th at Covenant United Methodist with Reverend David Lee officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Newton was born June 15, 1926 to the late Hettie Lynch and Otto Green. She graduated from Cool Springs High School. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Claude P. Newton, sister, Dorothy Bridges, brother, Hubert Green and Companion and Friend, Jay West. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Charlotte and retired from Collier and Cobb Insurance. Mrs. Newton worked 20 years at Ocean Creek Resort after retiring to N. Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed the beach being with family, ball room dancing and gardening.

Surviving are daughter, Phyllis Lawing (Wayne) of Charlotte, grandchildren, Chuck Lawing (Barbara) of Cherryville, NC, Phil Lawing (Melissa) of Badin, NC, great grandchildren, Savannah Lawing, Hannah Lawing, Sierra Lawing, and Brian Lang, great- great granddaughter, Bailey Lang. Memorials may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, to Lake Norman Hospice or to the Shriners Hospital.
