Prior to the birth of her three children, Peggy was employed by Belk’s Buying Services. She later earned her Master’s degree in Spanish and taught at various local institutions, including CPCC and UNC Charlotte. She was named Miss Charlotte and afterwards, runner-up, Miss North Carolina. She was a breast cancer survivor for over 50 years. Peggy and Dotson were also 60 year plus members of both Trinity Presbyterian Church and Quail Hollow Club, where she played both golf and tennis.
She is survived by sons, George (Ramona) and David and twin granddaughters, Kathryn and Kelly Palmer and in-laws, the family of the late William R. Holland, his wife Donna, Kristen and John as well as her “second” family, Manuel and Karen Zapata and Peggy’s godsons, Brian and Malcolm. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Dotson; daughter, Stacy; and brothers, Burke and Jimmy.
A private service will be held at Southminster, and interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care provided to Peggy by the Southminster staff and administration and Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
