Mrs. Cataliotti was married to the late Carmen V. Cataliotti. She was the daughter of Margaret Cowan and Henry Peters and was raised in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Pratt Institute and earned her undergraduate degree from New York University. She worked as a home economist for American Home magazine. Later in life, she returned to school and earned a M.S. in Education from C.W. Post University and taught in the Syosset, NY public school district at Walt Whitman, Locust Grove, and South Grove schools. She raised three children in the home she and her husband built on Calvin Avenue in Syosset. After retirement, in 1981, they relocated to Calabash, North Carolina and moved to Charlotte in 1995.
Mrs. Cataliotti is survived by her son, Robert Cataliotti, of Baltimore, Maryland; her daughter, Mary Ann Thomas and her husband Edward Thomas, of Charlotte; her daughter, Janet Hastings and her husband Richard Hastings, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Marie Thomas, Stuart Thomas, Ann Carmen Thomas, and Isabella Hastings. Her caregivers at Sunrise on Providence are also fondly remembered.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church in Charlotte at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral mass. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions will consider the Alzheimer’s Foundation; Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211; or the charity of their choice.
