Mrs. Marie M. Stephens

Mrs. Stephens, age 87, of Charlotte passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital Main.

She was born May 11, 1924 in Lawsonville, North Carolina the daughter of the late Homer Moore and Fannie Wall Moore. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Reverend Ivan A. Stephens. Throughout their marriage they enjoyed being in the ministry and touching other lives together.

Marie was educated at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and obtained a bachelors degree in Home Science.

Surviving are her son, David I. Stephens and wife Dixie C. Stephens; daughter, Pamela S. Burns and husband Herb Burns (deceased); grandchildren, Katherine S. Boyer (Bill), John D. Stephens (Nicolette J.), Jeremy F. Stephens, Jacob W. Stephens (Monica C.),M. Christopher Burns, Joshua D. Burns (Megan R.) and Kerby M. Burns; two great grandchildren, Phoenix Burns and Aidan Marie Burns; brothers, Helon Moore of Winston Salem, NC and Benjamin Moore of Plano, TX; sister, Estelle Brown of Winston Salem, NC; and numerous other loving family members.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
