Born June 2, 1946, in the small town of Grossheubach, Germany, she was a state champion gymnast in her youth, before marrying her loving husband, Lanny Hall, Sr., on June 1, 1966, in Germany.
Marion had a career in processing medical claims for the US Army in Heidelberg, Germany for more than a decade. Her most cherished role, however, was as a devoted Army spouse and mother to three sons. She was an avid reader and long-time fan of General Hospital. Marion also loved bowling with friends and participating in neighborhood game nights (Bunko). But above all, she took every available opportunity to cheer on her three boys and her five grandchildren at their games and events.
Survivors include sons Lanny Hall, Jr. (Kelly) of Charlotte, NC, Brian (Ursula) of Evans, GA, and Kevin (Leigh Anna) of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren Anthony, Logan, Jessica, Eva, and Owen; sister Petra Cole (Ernie); and numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and Germany.
Preceding Marion in death were her parents Norbert Mai and Hilde Barner; her husband, Lanny Hall, Sr.; her brother Ludwig Mai, and her sister Birgit Hopf.
A memorial will be held at a yet to be determined location and time, followed by a private burial at Arlington National Cemetery, joining her husband Lanny in their final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Via Health Partners, a palliative care and hospice group, at www.viagiving.org.
