

She was born October 29, 1926 in Mount Airy, NC to the late Crockett and Viola Brannock. She was married to her beloved husband, Samuel McLean King (1926 – 1991) for 41 years. They lived in Greenville, SC for over 50 years and had fond memories of fun times with their many friends. She moved to Charlotte in 2013 to be closer to family.
Among those who will cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan Traver and husband Al and Jane Hurst and husband Toby and their families; and her sisters, Gerri Brown and Joyce Mills and husband Arnold and their families.
Marge, as most of her friends knew her, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, Textiles & Design. She was a teacher at Marion Junior College in VA and in the Greenville, South Carolina County Schools. She later began working as an Interior Designer and developed many loyal customers and friendships. She was President of the Greenville American Association of University Women and was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church Greenville’s Affia Sunday School Class, Women’s Missionary Union and children’s programs.
A service to celebrate Marjorie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31st in the sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the Missions Center.
